Aslin Projects

MISSION

Aslin Projects (AP) is a research and performance project space for contemporary dance. AP strives to capture the internal subtleties of human behavior through movement in order to foster connection, bring forth emotion, and challenge expectations about social and political norms.

VISION

Using the dance arts and interdisciplinary work as a vehicle for research into topical philosophical, social, and political questions, AP envisions a world in which communities readily engage in social dialogue. AP strives to shape an equitable and accessible future for artists and viewers of the arts.

VALUES

Curiosity - Connection - Research - Transparency

Recognition

Poignant moments and key memories act as unconscious forces in our daily lives and may be evoked in unexpected contexts. The essence of memory is irreplicable and yet we cling to it so tightly.

“Recognition” is the first iteration of a larger exploration into memory. This work in progress asks the viewer to consider what happens when individuals experience the same “event” and come away with different recollections. When does personal memory become a selfish barrier to connection with loved ones? Through movement, four figures confront the ephemeral nature of memory amidst conflict and everyday moments in their relationships.
